Change Of Plans

The next day, Antonio decided to surprise Jayden with a dinner at a quaint restaurant, hoping to cheer him up after their fishing trip was cut short.

As he waited at the restaurant, he tapped his foot impatiently, muttering to himself in Spanish, "Where is this guy? I hope he didn't get lost on his way here."

When the waitress approached, Antonio greeted her with a warm smile.

"¡Hola, amigo! ¿Cómo estás? Espero que estés listo para cocinar algo espectacular hoy," Antonio greeted the waiter.

"¡Claro que sí, siempre listo para impresionar a nuestros clientes con lo mejor de la cocina," the waiter responded, matching Antonio's playful energy.

However, as the minutes turned into an hour, it became apparent that Jayden wasn't going to show up.

Returning to the Shiba House, Antonio couldn’t shake the feeling of disappointment.

He hoped his gesture hadn’t gone unnoticed by Jayden, who always seemed to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders.

As he entered the house, he was greeted by Mentor Ji, who noticed the pensive look on Antonio’s face.

“Antonio, is everything alright?” Mentor Ji inquired, his eyes reflecting genuine concern.

Antonio sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I had a little surprise planned for Jayden, but he never showed up. I thought it might cheer him up, you know?”

Mentor Ji nodded understandingly. “I see. Jayden has been under a lot of pressure lately. He’s been training harder than ever.”

Meanwhile:

"Come on, Jayden, you have to be strong. You need to be strong enough to protect Antonio," he muttered to himself, the weight of his responsibility heavy on his shoulders. "So much for being his bodygaurd im afraid of one silly dream!"

As he focused on perfecting his techniques, he couldn't shake the lingering unease from the vision that had haunted him.

"I have to be stronger... I have to protect him," Jayden muttered under his breath, a fierce glint in his eyes. "I won't let that vision come true. I won't let anything happen to Antonio."

As the training intensified, Jayden's thoughts spiraled, his inner monologue a mix of determination and self-criticism. "I can't let my guard down. I have to be ready for anything. I won't fail him. I can't."

Unbeknownst to Jayden, Antonio had quietly returned to the courtyard, watching the intense training session unfold. "Well, isn't this a nice surprise," Antonio remarked with a grin, causing Jayden to startle and whirl around.

"Antonio!" Jayden's eyes widened in surprise, a pang of guilt tugging at his core as he scolded himself silently "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to—"

“Training on an empty stomach, huh? Do you even know how to relax, Jayden?” Antonio called out with a friendly yet sarcastic tone, approaching Jayden with a grin. "It's okay, Jayden. I'm not here to fuss about that. I was worried about you."

Jayden's gaze softened, and he hesitated before speaking. "It's nothing. Just some personal stuff I needed to sort out. Red Ranger duties you know how it is."

"Okay I see I will have to get through to you another way then." Antonio suggested shocking Jayden for a moment.

"And pray to what kind of way are you stratagizing?" Jayden asked as Antonio mischievously chuckled grabbing a training saber from the stand.

"If I win you have to tell me what's bothering you or else you'll get punished." Antonio pointed out as Jayden shivered at the word but smiled "but if you win then fine keep being moody or whatever you call it."

Jaydens shocked expression soon turned into a smirk as he nodded getting into his stance "alright you got yourself a deal."

Few Hours Later:

"Must've been some dream to make you scream like a Banshee," Antonio prodded with a playful smirk, hoping to lighten the mood.

Jayden's laugh was forced, and it faded as quickly as it had come. "Yeah. Just a dream," he repeated, his gaze fixed on the creek.

Antonio let the silence stretch for a few moments before speaking again.

"You know, they say that dreams are the mind's way of trying to tell you something," he said, glancing sideways at Jayden. "Maybe your mind's telling you that you need to take it easy. Or that you've got too much on your plate."

Before Jayden could answer the gap sensor went off signaling a nighlok attack as the red and gold ranger looked at one another.

"Time for action let's go!" Antonio shouted as he got up but before he could, Jayddn grabbed the fisherman's hand.

"Antonio...i...i...i..." Kayden stuttered, Antonio looked back to see a smile on Jaydens face "Thank you, I am really lucky to have you as my partner."

"Touched by the sentiment but nows not the time, let's kick some nighlok but." Antonio commented but sensed the tension inside Jayden fade away.
